Diwali or Deepavali - “Festival of Lights”

Diwali or Deepavali is also called as “Festival of Lights”.  During this day hundreds and thousands of small oil lamps or diyas are lighted by many households across India. The burning of these oil lamps of diyas are considered to be the lighted pathway of a person’s expression of happiness and also a manner of paying obeisance to God, the Supreme power for attainment of health, prosperity, knowledge, financial security and peace in one’s life.

As we were landing at SFO, I noticed a NWA plane coming down to land. Something that is common at SFO and am able to capture few shots of planes landing in tandem.

The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival was celebrated at Mumbai during Feb 3 through Feb 11, 2007.

Kala Ghoda, brings together the works of artistes in the fields of music, dance, theatre, film, and of course art offering an interactive cultural mélange for Mumbaites.

The Kala Ghoda Association was established in 1988, with the aim of improving the existing infrastructure of the area, and giving it a distinct identity as Mumbai’s art district. The Kala Ghoda fair also hopes to be a catalyst for the revival of art across Mumbai.



Landing at Bagdogra Airport

We reached Bagdogra airport in the afternoon. Its a military airport that is open for civilian flights. It is located about 16 kilometres from the city of Siliguri in northern West Bengal, India. The airport acts as a gateway for thousands of tourists annually, most destined to the hill station towns of Darjeeling and Kalimpong and the state of Sikkim.



Toys @ New Market Kolkata

New Market, is situated at Lindsay Street. Technically, this is an enclosed market but today in local parlance the entire Lindsay Street shopping area is often known as New Market. With toys being sold on street and cars acting as temporary placeholder for them.
